Webpromotions: Backlinks and Spam

That’s in a way a really hot topic. I think most people doing SEO know, that backlinks are extremely important for a good ranking in Google. But what is a honest backlink and when it is spam?

General we can say, as soon as it it is a for the website owner unwished link, it could be spam. But not yet really. because as long as it is on topic and as long as it also gives information, it is a high value backlink and not (yet) spam.

But to take a very extreme example: promoting a porn site on a blog about pets for sure is spam. But same promoting a pets’s blog on a porn site is spam. But there’s a difference: while everybody knows porn site spam, I have honestly to say, I never have seen a pet site as spam links.

And that’s, why we have to learn to see this more different (then all of us actually do). This is the fault of all those hard core spammers. The point is, once you go to a well known SEO forum and if you gonna post a very well doing technique for very good SEO, it will take a few weeks and then it won’t work anymore. Why? because some people never know, when they should stop and they will overdo it 100 percent sure.

If I would write on such a forum “”forward one website per day through this technique” many people never will stop and starting forwarding thousands of sites a day.

And this is also the reason, why we see for example porn, gambling or viagra related links as spam. The really bad thing is: it is not always spam. Because there are also very informative and searched and very well visited sites regarding to this topics, as there are – as for any topic – also for these ones are people, that are seriously interested to get more informations.

Firefox is the last scrap!

There’s areal hype on firefox, which I honestly don’t understand. I work online, so I’m in avarage 12 hours a day online. And as I make webdesign (not this blog), I also need firefox, to check, how the sites will look.

My summary after a half year using firefox intensive: Forefox is the last scrap! No day, where I not have to wait and only see the hour glass, because simply opening a site is not working. Especially when I work with another program and want to check back to firefox. Everyday minimum (!!) 10 times I see the hour glass.

When firefox is open too long, it also freezes, same when there are too many tabs open (but – 7, 8 tabs are really that much???). I think, when I add all the time, I only sit in front of the computer and wait, that the firefox hour glass disappears, it’s easy between one and two hours.

Okay, some now will maybe say, so for sure you have add ons installed and everybody knows, that they freeze firefox. Well I have to say: when a computer manufacturer releases some extras, which make the computer not working anymore, the manufacturer for sure will not be proud if it like Mozilla about the addon community. And honestly – when addons freeze firefox, what is the sense of the addons???

Another great things: sometimes firefox also disappears from the task bar, opens another window without my request, doesn’t delete the parent log (which is only available, when the browser is open) without an open firefox, but when I want to open, it alsways says, first you have to close a running firefox, which is defacto not running. And so on and so on.

And as i had a lot of problems with firefox, I also started to google for firefox problems. So i recommend everybody, to make a search for “firefox problems”. I personally was extremely surprised, that this will give nearly so much search result like only “firefox”.
